How to Book Local Train Ticket in India Using UTS Mobile App


If you are an Indian and maximum time you are travelling on local train then this article is very helpful for you. When you are going for booking a ticket then it is the very problematic for standing on the long line. Don't worry, Indian Rail solved this problem by published UTS mobile App. By UTS app you can book local train ticket without any harassment. UTS stands for unreserved ticketing system and will only work for seats that don't require reservation.

The UTS app provide two type of tickets, one is paper tickets and other is paperless tickets. For paper tickets after booking a ticket print is require and for paperless print is not require. Paperless tickets can be booked  in the following cities via the UTS app — Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Secunderabad. You need to be within 2-km of the source station to book paperless tickets. The UTS app needs location access to book tickets. You can't book ticket when standing on track or you are inside the train.

How to download UTS app, Register, and booking a ticket.

For downloading UTS app go to Play store, type UTS and install this app.

After installation register on this app.

  1. Open UTS app and click on three vertical dots on top-right and tap register.
  2. Enter your mobile number, name, password, gender, and check the box that says you accept terms and conditions. 
  3. Now you'll receive an OTP (one-time password) via SMS. Enter the four-digit OTP and tap Submit.
Book a Paperless tickets on UTS app for local train

1. Open UTS app and sign in with your account.


2. Click on Book ticket


3. Click on Normal booking



4. Select Book & Travel (Paperless ticket)



5. Under From Station select the station where you want to book from. Remember that you need to be less than 2km from the source station. If you're over 2km away, the UTS app won't let you book a paperless ticket.

6. Select Destination Station.

7. Tap to proceed.

8. On the next screen there are multiple options — number of passengers, single or return journey ticket, first or second class, AC or non-AC train, and finally the payment gateway (R-Wallet or other payment gateways). Select these according to your requirements and tap Get Fare.

9. Now check all the details and when you're ready, tap Book Ticket.

10. This will redirect you to R-Wallet or the payment gateway, where you can complete payment.

11. Now you'll see the ticket in the app. In case you can't see this, tap the Home icon on the top-right and tap Booking History to see the ticket.
