Top 10 Search Engines in The World in 2019

In 2019 apart from Google and Bing  there are other search engines that may not be so well known but still serve millions of search queries per day.





List of Top 10 Most Popular Search Engines In the World (Updated 2019)

1. Google:

No doubt that Google is the most popular and no.1 search engine in the world.  (November 2018) 73% of searches were powered by Google and only 7.91% by Bing.

2. Bing: 

Bing is Microsoft’s attempt to challenge Google in search, but despite their efforts they still did not manage to convince users that their search engine can produce better results than Google.

Their search engine market share is constantly below 10%, even though Bing is the default search engine on Windows PCs.

3. Yahoo:

The original Yahoo! company was founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo in January 1994 and was incorporated on March 2, 1995. Yahoo was one of the pioneers of the early Internet era in the 1990s.

It provides or provided a Web portal, search engine Yahoo! Search, and related services, including Yahoo! Directory, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Groups, Yahoo! Answers, advertising, online mapping, video sharing, fantasy sports, and its social media website.

4. Ask.com:

Formerly known as Ask Jeeves, Ask.com receives approximately 0.42% of the search share. ASK is based on a question/answer format where most questions are answered by other users or are in the form of polls.

It also has the general search functionality but the results returned lack quality compared to Google or even Bing and Yahoo.

5. Baidu:

Baidu is a Chinese multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products and artificial intelligence (AI), headquartered in Beijing's Haidian District. It is one of the largest AI and internet companies in the world.

6. AOL.com:

AOL is an American web portaland online service provider based in New York City. It is a brand marketed by Verizon Media. AOL is still in the top 10 search engines with a market share that is close to 0.06%. 

7. DuckDuckGo:

DuckDuckGo  is an Internet search engine that emphasizes protecting searchers' privacy and avoiding the filter bubble of personalized search results.  In May 2019, it had 37,831,751 daily direct searches on average.

8. Internet Archive: 

The Internet Archive is a San Francisco–based nonprofit digital library with the stated mission of "universal access to all knowledge.It provides free public access to collections of digitized materials, including websites, software applications/games, music, movies/videos, moving images, and millions of public-domain books. In addition to its archiving function, the Archive is an activist organization, advocating for a free and open Internet.

9. Wolframalpha:

Wolfram|Alpha is a computational knowledge engine or answer engine developed by Wolfram Alpha LLC, a subsidiary of Wolfram Research. It is an online service that answers factual queries directly by computing the answer from externally sourced "curated data", rather than providing a list of documents or web pages that might contain the answer as a search engine might.

10. Yandex.NV:

Yandex N.V.  is a Russian multinational corporation specializing in Internet-related products and services, including search and information services, eCommerce, transportation, navigation, mobile applications, and online advertising. Yandex provides over 70 services in total. Incorporated in the Netherlands, Yandex primarily serves audiences in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The company founders and most of the team members are located in Russia. The company has 18 commercial offices worldwide.
It is the largest technology company in Russia and the largest search engine on the internet in Russian, with a market share of over 52%.
